Lee "Scratch" Perry, Andrew WK Collaborate
10/04/2007

From: Narnack Records
Lee "Scratch" Perry is one of the most influential people in the development of reggae and
dub music worldwide. As a songwriter, a performer and producer, "The Mighty Upsetter" has
been at the forefront of reggae music since the late 50's ska movement.
Practically the inventor of the "scratch" turntable effect used by DJ's, Perry's studio
innovations have influenced not only reggae but also rock, punk, pop and dance music. Yet,
at 70 years old and on the coattails of his last critically acclaimed album Panic in
Babylon as well as a summer-long North American tour that visited over 40 cities, Lee
is back in the studio working on his newest album for Narnack Records.
Lee and Andrew WK first met at last years SXSW where Lee performed for a DirectTV special
and Andrew interviewed him for an after show piece. They had great chemistry during the
interview and Andrew showed interest in interviewing Lee again for an upcoming TV project
that was in the works. When they finally came together later that summer after Lee's
performance at B.B. King's in NYC a project started to fall into place.
The songs on the new album are going to embody and be rooted in the classic Lee "Scratch"
Perry/Upsetter vibe but take everything to a whole new level. No release date or title has been
released as of press time.
