It's been said that even if the singer dies, his songs will continue to live. And that's evident when listening to Jerry Garcia and David Grisman's latest release, Been All Around This World. Together again, they've united and fulfilled loyal listeners' Bluegrass fantasies of trickling-rain-drop mandolin melodies intermingled with Garcia's smooth, storytelling voice.

In the early 1990's, Garcia and Grisman met at Dawg Studio and started their musical journey, which has spanned decades and touched many generations of Dead Heads. Thumbing through traditional Folk, Blues and Country influences, Garcia and Grisman pay homage to Bob Dylan ("The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest"), George Jones ("Take Me"), James Brown ("I'll Go Crazy") and James Chamber ("Sitting Here In Limbo"), just to name a few. Been All Around This World is a testimony to the incredible range of music that has encompassed their career.

"Take Me," a George Jones original, is an innocent love song with lyrics that simply roll of Garcia's lips like soft poetry, supported by an endearing mandolin and nurturing acoustic guitar solo. Accompanied by all members of the Grisman Quintet rhythm section, the undulating Bluegrass rhythms and tender percussion of "Sittin' Here In Limbo" reveal a serene song for a lazy day of swinging your feet, waiting for the sun to set. Then switching pace to a combination of traditional Folk and Blues, Garcia mourns about a place where it's "Dark As A Dungeon," according to Merle Travis.

Once again Garcia and Grisman have created an album that is for all ages and a broad range of listeners. So, if you're going on a picnic, fishing in a boat or sitting on your couch reading, Been All Around This World will be the soundtrack to a priceless day of peace.
