Hardcore is one of the fastest growing genres in music today,
and one of the bands at the forefront is Jacksonville, Florida's
Evergreen Terrace. Ever since releasing their first album on
Indianola Records, they've quickly become one of hardcore's
most popular bands. Not only that, they seem to enjoy taking
their sweet time releasing new material. This has become
apparent as earlier this year they released a covers album,
Writer's Block and now this live/demo album,
At Our Worst.
This album's first six songs showcase some live material, which
is very impressive. It almost seems as if they recorded the
music in the studio, but Evergreen Terrace is just that tight live.
The only sign of Evergreen Terrace not being a good live band
is the vocals at the start of "Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em."
Finishing off the album is the band's long out-of-print four song
demo that showcases their roots.
I would venture to guess Evergreen Terrace fans would be
running out and buying this record right away. The live
recordings are actually very good quality and the demo should
be a welcomed treat. But for the everyday hardcore music
lover, hold onto your money until they actually release an
album with new material on it. |
