Japanese punk. Right. If music is the international language, surely there is no better example than Guitar Wolf. American punk music played by three Japanese guys, Seiji on guitars, Billy on bass, and Toru on drums; these guys actually play quite well. This is simply an exercise in having fun and cranking the crap out of one's amps. There are 17 tracks and nary a soft moment to be found. From the opener, "Love Rock," to the closing chords of "Black Rock n Roll," this is balls to the wall rock.

Surprisingly, most of the cuts are longer than standard punk songs with some stretching past the three to four minute mark. The lyrics are fairly amusing, perhaps because of translation issues between languages. For instance, "My queen I loved in the Amazon. Rock 'n roll power she didn't believe. To as the piranas (sic) I obeyed her. At which point I had enough." Or how about "Mars Floats Moon Floats. Dreams floats at space time. Rocket sprays fireworks at the sky. Tokyo Town Illumination."

Whatever. This music is what you should listen to while sweating it out at a club somewhere. When was lyrical content paramount in hoisting a couple of cold ones and moshing on the dance floor, right?
