Flunk is a four-piece combo from Norway. The music consists
of both electronically programmed sounds by Ulf Nygaard
(singer) and actual instruments - guitars, bass, drums, etc.
This disc by Flunk comes fully loaded with seven songs, six of
which are remixes. Track one, "All Day And All Of The Night" is
original and only found on this EP. The other six songs are
remixes of songs found on Flunk's album, Morning
Star. Also included on this EP are two music videos.
One video is for "On My Balcony," and the other is for "Six
Seven Times."
Each song on this EP flows right into the next as any electronic
album should. It seems like one entire piece, with movements
- yet, each song is different and significant which is hard to do
in my opinion. The album is very relaxing. It's like an indie
fusion of funk and electronica, and therefore the band is
appropriately named Flunk.
Lead singer, Anja Oyen Vister was introduced to the band by
accident. It was not anyone's intention for her to sing until she
laid tracks for their first single. Her voice is golden and pure.
It matches her look perfectly. It is innocence. She has a voice
reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan. It's plain with a slight twinge
of pain.
The album is slightly psychedelic but not so intense it turns out
to be a bad trip. It's original. It's honest and raw. It's a good
source for winding down; ambiance. |
