On first listen, Aiden sounds a lot like My Chemical Romance.
But, I find Aiden more punk in their vocals - they seem to
have punk influenced harmonies and an overall punk rock
way of singing. Then again, that all depends on what you
consider punk? Let's not go there.
I also think that Aiden most definitely has more of a metal,
butt-rock background. Many of their songs on their album,
Nightmare Anatomy, start off with some sort of
metallic arpeggio or scale. I can imagine Angel and Jake,
their two guitarists, spending their down time on tour
watching some metal guitar instruction videos while the rest
of the band brushes up on their Xbox skills. The video would
be called something like - Steve Vai for the nice guy.
Seriously, that's a good idea. Someone should record such a
video!
I find Aiden's lyrics somewhat repetitive. This is not always a
bad thing because repetitive lyrics lend themselves to easy
sing alongs, which, to some people it is the most important
aspect of an album. The music is strong, popcore (if there is
such a thing)? The vocals are fitting, backed by appropriate
and powerful screams. And again, the lyrics lend themselves
as easy to sing along to and are somewhat creative and
easy to relate to. So whatever your poison, perhaps Aiden
will quench your thirst as a band of rising popularity from the
Victory Records family. |
