Beauty For Ashes is a four-piece acoustic hardcore band
from Provo, UT. Their first recording - a 6-song demo - like
any other first time demo requires a bit of imagination to fill
in the way that it should sound if professionally recorded.
The potential here is unbelievable.
We've all had thoughts of creating a combination of sounds
both unique and intriguing. I'm sure we've all thought about
starring in our own version of a band such as Beauty For
Ashes, but talent is required for such a thing and stops the
majority of us in our tracks. There are no power chords or
distortion to hide behind. Beauty For Ashes has absolutely no
problem with talent.
Imagine, if you will, acoustic breakdowns at finger-flying
speeds that dueling guitarists (and cousins) Mike DeHoyas
(also lead singer) and Jared Montemayor master with an
envious amount of ease. It's nothing you're use to and
entirely opposite of what you might expect. It's as if the
lyrical stylings of John Mayer were met with the angst of
someone like The Bled.
Beauty For Ashes is like a dream come true for the coffee
shop addicted hardcore scene, the teenagers trying to
sneak-by any amount of musical rebellion in their Mom's car
stereo or the old school hardcore kids who have suddenly
found religion and are striving to convert to some sort of
wholesome alternative. All in all, it is domestic brilliance! Due
to their location, being a city laden with holier than thou
upper class conservatives, yet overruled by their Diesel
wearing, hardcore children - whether Fascist or fashion -
Beauty For Ashes is well liked by everyone in Utah Valley
and can be included in a variety of lineups.
Acoustic-hardcore is like the reversible jacket of music
genres; you can combine it with any lineup, appropriate for
any occasion. |
