To anyone who questions the future of heavy metal, your
answer is Deadsoil. You won't catch them on this year's
watered-down Ozzfest line-up and they probably won't get
much attention from that joke of what was once a cool metal
show on MTV. The best you can do is pick up their new,
sophomore album Sacrifice and hope they play
a club near you.
This German quintuplet doesn't fuck around! The first song,
"Unspoken" starts off a little mild but quickly changes pace.
This song is more groove-oriented than speed-driven and
features a strong chorus where singer Fredrich Weber shows
he's capable of more than just growling. This particular song
reminds me of what I thought was a once hopeful band,
Pissing Razors.
Next, "Cross The Great Divide" has drummer/co-founder
Christian Bass unleashing some serious double bass action.
This one is absolutely brutal, where "Forget Everything"
contains some of the most massive grooves on the album.
Whispering vocals of "I might be broken, but I will rise
again" turn to angry yells over bassist Andreas
Schuessler.
"Remembrance" brings things down a bit and allows
guitarists Jons Basten and co-founder Boris Pracht to give
listeners a little instrumental ditty. Other songs like "Viper"
and "Ultimate Domination"(to me the heaviest track on the
disc) really define the monstrous sound of this band. "These
Stings" shows they are able to be melodic as well.
If you're a fan of bands such as God Forbid, Strychnine Soul
and Lamb Of God then you'll love Deadsoil. Keep metal
alive! |
