If music is your religion, then going to see Chris Robinson and Gov't Mule on a Sunday night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville is your place of worship. A house with beautiful stained glass windows, long wooden pews and a stage where talented musicians from around the world have played to sold out crowds.

Any musician that comes to Nashville would agree that it's a privilege to play at the Ryman, and it's a tribute to the great legendary artists who've poured their heart out on that same stage. So, when you see a show at the Ryman, audience members know that there is going to be a special guest on stage, or an accolade to a well-respected Nashville musician. Warren Haynes asked Chris Robinson to come back and brought along with him mandolin prodigy, Marty Stuart. Together, they all played "I Know You Rider" by the Grateful Dead, and "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones. Chris Robinson took the lead on "Wild Horses," with Marty Stuart and Warren Haynes singing backup vocals. (This is something I'll never forget.)

More special guests continued to fill the playbill this evening. Lee Roy Parnell pulled out his weapon, a slide and guitar, and showed the crowd how "She Caught the Katy." The sensational blind organ player Johnny Neel, teased the crowd with, "The Other One," by the greatest jam band of all time, the Grateful Dead. Audley Freed got the crowd jammin' to "Folsom Prison Blues," a little tribute to the late Johnny Cash. And Jack Pearson, former guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band, came out for the encore, "Soulshine." Jack and Warren started to play guitar tug-of-war, switching leads in a bluesy style. Then Warren passed the microphone off to the crowd and everyone in the audience let their spirit take control and let their "Soulshine."

After the show, I was able to go to the meet and greet and speak to some of the members from the band. Each of them boasted about the evening and how it was an experience to remember. They were all grateful to play at the Ryman with some of the world's finest musicians. To the audience and musicians, this experience was a church like revival that will not be forgotten.
